Saturday Soundtrack – Max Peter on the best in film music 2001

Artificial Intelligence (John Williams), The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Howard Shore), A Beautiful Mind (James Horner), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer´s Stone (John Williams)

In 1974, director Steven Spielberg approached composer John Williams to compose the soundtrack for his very first film for the big screen: The Sugerland Express.

Also nominated for an Academy Award, this score became much more famous than his superior work for A.I. Artificial Intelligence, which was not Spielberg´s best film, but a very welcome new entry in the genre.

Apropos: the composer was also set to write the music for Steven Spielberg´s 2015 thriller Bridge of Spies, but Thomas Newman replaced Williams for the film.
